Dental Cleanings and Checkups in Kitchener
Regular cleanings and checkups are the simplest way to keep small problems small. At Fairway Dental on Fairway Rd S in Kitchener, a routine visit covers a professional cleaning, an exam and whatever X-rays you’re due for, so we can catch decay, gum problems and worn fillings before they turn into a toothache. Call 519-893-9494 to book.
What happens at a cleaning and checkup
- Cleaning. Plaque and hardened tartar are removed from above and below the gumline, then your teeth are polished.
- Exam. The dentist checks each tooth, your existing fillings and crowns, your gums and your bite.
- Oral cancer screening. We look at your tongue, cheeks, gums and the floor and roof of your mouth for anything unusual.
- X-rays when needed. Not every visit needs them. See our dental X-rays page for how we decide.
Extra protection when it helps
- Fluoride treatment strengthens enamel and lowers the risk of new cavities.
- Sealants are thin protective coatings painted onto the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where food and bacteria get trapped.
- Panoramic X-rays show all your teeth and jaws in one image, which is useful for wisdom teeth and a full picture at a first visit.
How often should you come in?
Many people do well with a cleaning and checkup every six months. If you’re prone to gum problems or tartar builds up quickly, more frequent visits may make sense. We’ll recommend a schedule that fits your mouth rather than a one size fits all rule. If your gums bleed or feel tender, our gum disease treatment page explains what we can do.
Insurance, direct billing and CDCP
We bill most dental plans directly, including the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Read our CDCP page for details. For anything your plan doesn’t cover, we accept cash, debit and Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
