Complete dentures

A complete denture replaces all the teeth in the upper jaw, the lower jaw or both. It rests on your gums, and an upper denture is held in place partly by suction against the roof of your mouth. Most people need some time to get used to eating and speaking with a new denture, and small adjustments in the first few weeks are normal.

Partial dentures

A partial denture fills one or more gaps when you still have some natural teeth. It clips onto the teeth beside the space, which helps keep those teeth from drifting. If you’d rather have something that stays in full time, a fixed bridge may be an option. See our crowns and bridges page.

Denture repairs and relines

Dentures can crack, lose a tooth or loosen as your gums and jaw change shape over time. We repair broken dentures and reline them so they sit snugly again. Caring for your dentures

  • Take them out and brush them daily with a soft brush and a denture cleaner, not regular toothpaste
  • Keep them moist overnight so they don’t dry out and warp
  • Brush your gums, tongue and any natural teeth too
  • Handle them over a folded towel or a sink of water in case you drop them
  • Keep up regular checkups so we can check the fit and the health of your gums
